How to measure your product for a custom box

Measure the product at its longest, widest and tallest points. Write the numbers in the same order every time: length, width, height. Length and width describe the opening of the box.

Add a small allowance so the product slides in without force. How much depends on the material and style, so ask your packaging supplier what they recommend.

If the product ships with an insert, tissue or a second item, include that in the measurement. Packaging that is too tight is as much of a problem as one that is too loose.

Check the digital proof before a full run. Compare the dimensions with your real product before you approve.
